Former Ballplayer Darryl Hamilton Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide

Police have identified former MLB player Darryl Hamilton and his wife, Monica Jordan, as the victims of what appears to be a murder-suicide after the pair was found dead in their own home. Their 14-month-old child was also found in the house, unharmed.

Police were called to a house in Pearland, Tex., to respond to a disturbance, and found both Hamilton and Jordan shot to death inside. The Houston Chronicle provides some details:

Police said officers were sent to the home on an emergency call about a disturbance. When they arrived, they found the body of Darryl Hamilton, 50, near the front entry way. The body of Monica Jordan, 44, was found in another part of the home.

Investigators said it appeared Hamilton had been shot more than once and Jordan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hamilton retired after the 2001 season and went on to pursue a career in broadcasting. Most recently, he was working as a part-time color analyst on Brewers’ radio broadcasts.

Ugh, terrible.

He was very well-liked in the Brewers organization.

exactly a year ago yesterday. A super gracious man, he recognized that my son recognized him and was trying to not act like he recognized him and came over to say hello. He'll be missed.
