Tim Tebow said to have worked out for Philadelphia Eagles

Last edited Mon Mar 16, 2015, 04:39 PM - Edit history (1)

You read that correctly.

Tim Tebow, the former Broncos quarterback turned SEC analyst, showcased his skills for Eagles coach Chip Kelly, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

(snip)

… but another surprising quarterback move may not be so surprising from Kelly, who has generated plenty of headlines in the last week alone. Kelly traded quarterback Nick Foles to St. Louis for Sam Bradford minutes before the official start of free agency last week. Some are convinced Kelly plans to trade Bradford again to try to draft Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

Working out Tebow, a quarterback few expected would be capable of an NFL return, only adds more questions about Kelly’s plan.

Where's my old Tebowing smiley?

On edit. I found it!

That triple/quadruple options/short slant pass game was perfected by Tebow/Urban Myth at Florida.

Nice cherry pick.

He had a 46 percent accuracy rate. That is plain horrible in the NFL.

Why do you think he can't land back in the NFL?

Tebow in his glory.

The baggage is what keeps players like Tebow and Michael Sams out of NFL.

albeit dismaying to some, Tebow may still be in the picture.

Could Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Aryans take 'a leap of faith'?

Although no one thinks Tebow would have any chance of beating out Bradford or Sanchez for the starting job, it’s not unthinkable that Tebow could make the Eagles’ roster as a third-string quarterback. Most people around the NFL believe that Tebow’s career is over, but Kelly doesn’t think the way most people around the NFL think. He may be ready to give Tebow another chance.

A successful quarterback. An award-winning quarterback.

Since 2011, post-season NFL wins:

Tim Tebow - 1
Mark Sanchez - 0
Sam Bradford - 0

I am neither a Gator's fan (Roll Tide!) or an evangelical (Hail Satan!), but Tebow is one of the best options QB's to ever play. He has great heart and an absolute iron-clad will to play - quarterback.

In a league plagued with bad press and criminals like Hernandez and Rice, why is Tebow so vilified for being a good guy?

The shit Ryan did to him at NY was despicable. Tebow took the 'coaching' advice, and:

After he was cut by New England just before the 2013 regular season, 18 months ago, Tebow went to meet with Tom House on the advice of Tom Brady. House, who pitched eight years in the big leagues and also served as an assistant baseball coach at USC, runs a business tutoring "rotational" athletes on mechanics. It's attracted a host of NFL quarterbacks, including Brady himself and Drew Brees.

"What amazes me is this young man, with no job prospects, has prepared just as hard as he would if he were the No. 1 quarterback for an NFL team," House said over the phone Monday night. "He's busted his butt. He spins the ball better than he did and he's much more accurate than he was. I think he's ready."

Stranger things have happened.

Remember Kurt Warner?

Warner, the Iowa stock boy turned world champ, is one of 18 finalists up for consideration later this Super Bowl week for admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And yet, by all accounts, he's far from a lock, the man's candidacy as complicated and unusual as the playing career that preceded it.

The former Northern Iowa star didn't throw his first NFL pass in a regular-season game until the age of 27 and wasn't a No. 1 option until the age of 28, a cockpit opened -- and this is the movie part -- only because of a series of fluke injuries and providence. He started fewer than 10 games in a season six times over a dozen years as an NFL signal-caller.

Six lucky weeks including three games with the back up QB playing, one of those with the starting RB also hurt, and the playoff game with the opponent's best two defensive players on the shelf.

A run of good fortune that would have made the come from behind victories impossible.

You're just not watching closely enough. That's why numbers taken out of context tell no story.

Why is that??

He wasn't good enough for Denver. He wasn't good enough for the Jets (and heck they need a QB badly). He wasn't good enough for the Patriots - even on the bench. The Eagles would rather have a hobbled QB because Tebow is really not that good. Sorry to tell you that . . .

Pocket Presence and accuracy is a must in the NFL.. Tebow had neither. His accuracy average was 46 percent--- which puts him at the bottom of the NFL. His tendency to dance in the pocket and then run when in trouble may have worked in the SEC---but not in the NFL. He was a great College QB---so was Jeff George, Johnny Manziel, and many more before him. Look what happened to all of them when they hit the bit time.

A couple years ago, I turned on the TV to watch the Yankees knock out the Red Sox in Game Four, the way God had pre-ordained it to be.

Needless to say, "Man plans, God laughs!"

'Cause, you know, God really, really gives a shit about sports! Or anything else for that matter - but that's another forum.

I can't simply say that Tebow is a proven athlete who deserves at least a look. There is just too much baggage.

"It's really not about Tebow anymore," Yoder told Bleacher Report. "It hasn't been for a long time, and it really goes back to the miraculous, improbable nature of his 2011 season in Denver. That season wasn't just statistically ludicrous, it gave everyone something to argue about. Tebow's fans could point to his wins and his fourth-quarter performances. Tebow's critics could point to his first three quarters of throwing the ball like Garo Yepremian.

"But instead of it being contained there, the media—and ESPN in particular—knew it was on to something because the Tebow debate meant ratings. It wasn't just enough to talk about football or the Denver Broncos anymore. It had to become something more. The quarterback position, the SEC, religion, evangelism, sex, social issues, whatever.
