Jury orders NFL to pay nearly $76,000 in Super Bowl XLV seating lawsuit

An eight-person jury on Thursday found that the NFL breached its contracts with seven fans at Super Bowl XLV and ordered the league to pay nearly $76,000 in combined damages.

The damages were generally slightly less than the plaintiffs requested from the NFL. The jury rejected two fraud claims that were also part of the lawsuit.

The seven plaintiffs, all ticket holders to the 2011 Super Bowl, sued the NFL for breach of contract.

Five of the fans were displaced when the seats they purchased could not be completed in time for the championship at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The other two plaintiffs claimed they had obstructed views and were also suing for fraudulent inducement.
