Not when TCU was not allowed to play in the CFP. Not when they had only one loss just like Ohio State and Florida State.

(78,249 posts)Florida State had no losses going into the Rose Bowl. That was what got TCU squeezed out of the playoff. Surely, after what we just saw, you're not going to suggest that they should have been picked over Ohio State?!
El Supremo
(20,365 posts)Fuck this shit. Go back to no championship game and let the AP name the fictional champ.
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)That would be hard to pull off logistically, unless you played the first round of bowls around Christmas. As it was, Oregon got hosed out of some practice time because its semester had started while Ohio State's had not.
And if we do get an eight-team playoff, I get to listen to the fans of No. 9 squawk instead!
El Supremo
(20,365 posts)This ain't the pros.
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)Under the old system, Alabama and Oregon would likely have been matched in one of the marquee bowls. Ohio State would have been the ones getting hosed.
El Supremo
(20,365 posts)Oregon would have played Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Alabama would have been in the Sugar Bowl. Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Baylor would have gone to the Fiesta Bowl and TCU to the Cotton or Orange. And the AP would have a vote to name a fictional champion.
I don't care if TCU would not have finished first. At least they would not have been SCREWED!

(20,365 posts)TCU played FIVE ranked teams. Ohio State played four.
Conference championship? Against who? A team they already beat? I hate those needless games.
And that loss to Baylor was by only 3 points. There was no defense. Whoever had the ball last would have won.
TZ
(42,998 posts)TCU's rank 100 something. Big ten wasn't exactly a soft conference either.
"And there were no defenses either". I'm pretty sure defeating 52-0 nothing a ranked Wisconsin made OSU's case over TCU.

nuff said.

(20,365 posts)TCU never got that chance.

(20,365 posts)I'm talking about a team that was screwed. But while you're at it, the Big 12 was screwed out of this stupid four team "playoff". There are five power conferences not four. And Boise State is damn good too.
madinmaryland
(64,933 posts)the Big Whatever conference.
Back to the question I asked earlier. Since you refer to the Big Whatever conference as a power conference, how many Bowl games did they win?
Boise State is in the Little Whatever Conference and only manages to win because of a neon blue field. Who the fuck plays on a blue field????

(29,322 posts)I found irony in TCU fans making strength of schedule arguments against Ohio State which is an overrated metric.
In any case this is their current ( 51) far from the easiest schedule in the country
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/
Ohio State's schedule jumped up to 29 because Big Ten won bowl games against quality opponents which is why their schedule jumped ahead of TCU's. This is another reason why strength of schedule is so overrated.

(20,365 posts)And what the hell is "an Ohio minute'? I've heard of New York ones. Is it the time it takes to get banned from bowl games?
madinmaryland
(64,933 posts)jack shit happening here other than TOSU kicking the shit out of top ranked football teams, so it passes a whole lot faster than a New York minute!!
