Sort of gave up at 28-14, kept checking back, though. Don't think I could sit through another one like that.

(29,322 posts)Flying to Foxboro is a significant obstacle. If Baltimore won, either team would be the home team in the AFC Championship so it is a significantly tougher road for both.

(56,177 posts)Didn't want to have to face the Ravens...they have given both Denver and the Pats trouble in the playoffs.

(56,177 posts)I think tomorrow's Denver-Indy game should be a close one, too.

(29,322 posts)based on the regular season so it made them a bit of unique threat. Denver under Gary Kubiak had offenses that were simply good every year he was there, I'm having trouble thinking of a year he didn't -- probably 1999 with Bubby Brister as QB but Olandis Gary, Rod Smith, and Ed McAfferey had a very good season that year.
This season they set a franchise record for points, Flacco set a career high in TDs, and Justin Forsett turned in a 5.2 YPC for the season. Probably not as great at the defensive end of the ball but different than 2012 when they had an average offense but Flacco turned into Joe Montana for the playoffs.

(56,177 posts)When they won a couple years ago, he got a huge contract, and I think that was the year a lot of guys got huge contracts, most notably Matt Ryan and Schaub...neither of whom have justified those contracts at all.

(29,322 posts)I certainly could imagine Arizona picking up Flacco if the Ravens didn't but I hear what you're saying.
Matt Ryan really didn't until Atlanta drafted Julio Jones, his YPA numbers took a dive when he got injured but they're back up again. Matt Schaub put up some great numbers under Kubiak but his arm strength declined rapidly following the 2012 season, the Raiders preseason showed it was gone. He went from #1 to #3 and it wasn't an open competition going into it.
2012 playoffs was the outlier of all outliers. He wasn't exactly a playoff quarterback going to it, when you look at the box scores he had awful performances in games they won but his best performances came in games they lost such as the 2011 AFC Championship.
But he just had the best season of his career, Kubiak is great at getting the most out of his QBs and offensive performance in general.

(10,115 posts)they didn't inform him ahead of time of their offensive scheme so he could get his defense alignment correct. So, he had to take an unsportsmanlike penalty because he had to inform the refs who had no idea what was happening on the filed. That was priceless.

And then screwing up the last minute and a half. Run a play or two and then take a knee. Don't give them a hail Mary opportunity like that in a play off game!
