as far as importance to providing quality broadcast team (why Aikman & Buck cover the game in most markets) for the matchup.

What seemed insulting was to Dick Stockton and sideline reporter covering the same game as Brady Quinn.

though I'll admit I've heard worse than Quinn. There's an audition process and a lot of practice before anyone gets to call a game, so I imagine Quinn passed all the tests. Stockton is an old pro. They're working together okay.

Looks like another loss for Oakland.

thanks to Charles Woodson intercepting Arizona's first pass of the season keeping them in the game which comes with a little bit of irony as Charles Woodson's first career interception came against Arizona - Jake Plummer.

When Denver cut Brian Griese who had pro bowl numbers in favor of Plummer. Coaches looked at tape of every interception Plummer threw at Arizona and saw a lot of them were because they were behind quick and early and they didn't have a running game. Barely ran and when they did it was for 1-yard. The LeShon Johnson game against New Orleans & Thomas Jones in the first game at Seahawks new stadium were very rare in that I remember them. They've had a bad defense between the years Buddy Ryan coached (there was unfair local criticism over having his two sons as coaches--Rex coached the LBs) & Ray Horton as D-Coordinator.

He was the perfect QB for the type of offense Shannahan which uses QB manipulation which is why I think Shannahan saw what Bill Walsh saw. His numbers went up and Denver went to the playoffs every year w/ him (2003 they were 9-3 with him as a starter but finished 10-6 due to a torn shoulder which was made worse like the RGIII situation). In his last season you could tell from the book "A Few Seconds of Panic" that his heart wasn't in it anymore which was written from the experiences of going in training camp w/ the team. Plummer was heavily featured and like his values & who he is as a person and the importance he put on the game and his career--he is like Andrew Luck in telling the endorsements to go away and not interested in where he fits among the greatest. Also a lot of what he was seeing reminded me of the LA Raiders on the 30 for 30 documentary Shannahan "sucking the fun out the game" criticisms.

I had respect for his QB abilities but even more as a person.

saying "he's the (QB) most like Joe Montana" available in the draft. It was crucial San Francisco draft for the future -- Steve Young was 35.

Director of Player Personnel Vinny Cerrato went with Jim Druckenmiller of Virgina Tech instead. I consider Druckenmiller to be among the 49ers biggest, if not the biggest, draft busts ever.

In two years with the 49ers Drunkenmiller was 21 of 52 for 239 yards, with one touchdown and four interceptions. He made only one start (for injured Steve Young) and was traded in 1999. His drafting signaled the beginning of a long string of successive bad choices that haunted the 49ers until the late 00s.
