The Neveda team was just really good. I think what happened would have happened even if she had not been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. In addition, she did not really play poorly. She allowed three run (two of which came from a two run homer) and struck out about six in 2 1/2+ innings. Who knows, maybe she could have struck out a few more if she had been left in the game.

SI and Madden covers generally showcase athletes at the high points of their careers where they've had exceptional performances or surprising performances in the case of SI. The jynxs can easily be explained w/ regression to the mean. Generally it just means the athletes luck ran out.

I wish her the best. Unfortunately their is no future for her in baseball but I hear she favors basketball. Maybe she'll be a top performer down the road.

They got plenty of mileage out of it as well.

Thanfully, the exploiting of 12 year olds is over for the year.
