That map doesn't quite do it justice. It gives way too much space to Massachusetts' Cape Cod, squashing Conn. and RI in the process.

That being said, about 3 million people live there, which puts it close to the middle of the pack. Turns out quite a few of them are good at basketball, and many more of them enjoy the sport to the extent that basketball players from out of state want to play there. In particular, many women from there (and Southwick, Mass., right on the border ) excel at the sport. In fact, the Huskies' women's games were once shown on Connecticut Public Television! (They could just as easily have gone to a fundraiser once the halftime score reached 42-19 or something like that. )

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the "Huskies" name stems from "UConn" sounding like "Yukon" (Sgt. Preston and such. )

But mostly I'm just happy someone beat Kentucky - I'm vindictive like that ...
