Faneca, who retired after the 2010 season, lost 70 pounds in the three months after retirement, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He has lost plenty more since then.

He told the Times-Picayune how he got the urge to run marathons.

“One day I ran around doing about 7 miles, and that got the competitive juices flowing," Faneca said. "So I started thinking about doing the half (marathon) and running longer distances."

Not many offensive linemen dream of running marathons. But then again, Faneca looks nothing like an offensive lineman anymore.
