Joe Staleys anger after Sundays win was directed at a surprising target: his own fans.
The 49ers left tackle was one of several players who motioned for the Candlestick Park crowd to stop doing "The Wave" when Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell was injured in the fourth quarter and a stretcher was on the field. Campbell, who gave a thumbs-up when he exited on the stretcher, was able to move all of his extremities after initially experiencing extreme numbness," according to Cardinals coach Bruce Arians.
"There is a man down there on the field getting carted off, you got fans out there doing the wave, I thought it was disrespectful," Staley said. I know their players didnt appreciate it, and our guys didnt appreciate it. Thats our livelihood out there. Its a brotherhood out there. I think thats what makes this game so great. Just didnt appreciate it."
Said 49ers CEO Jed York, via Twitter: "To say Im disappointed some fans did the wave this afternoon while @Campbell93 was down is understatement. Hope you get well soon Calais."
