Not long ago, Trent Richardson was viewed as a cornerstone for Cleveland's future.
On Wednesday, he became part of its recent inglorious past.
The Browns traded the powerful running back to the Colts in a stunning move just two games into the season and one year after drafting Richardson in the first round.

Cleveland's new front office dealt Richardson for a first-round draft pick next year, when the team will have two opening-round selections and 10 overall. Cleveland is rebuilding again and the team hopes to use those picks -- seven in the first four rounds -- to help turn around a floundering franchise.

(1,695 posts)Getting a franchise QB & a few offensive tools next draft could really bring up the tempo in Cleveland. Weedon just isn't working out.
This is do huge for Indy. And I'm pleased to see it. I'm a fan of Luck. I think he's got a great future in the NFL and from interviews I've seen, he seems to be a pretty decent guy. His arm & T. Rich's running/blocking skills....Supernowl bound I tells ya!!

(4,482 posts)Richardson is not a good fit in the current system and they'll have two 1st round picks in April.

(4,482 posts)But nobody is going to do so for a player that has yet to complete a season without getting hurt. I seriously doubt he'll be back next season (contract's up). Pryor is only the starter because the other 3 QBs the Raiders had simply played dismally in training camp. The only "system" the Raiders have is to simply survive until they can get some good players.

(29,322 posts)Willis McGahee passed his physical Thursday and signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns, a league source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
McGahee's addition, which earlier was reported by NFL.com, helps to fill the void created when Trent Richardson was traded to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first-round pick.
<snip>
He had been the Denver Broncos' starting running back the last two seasons but was released by the team in June. He was set to make $2.5 million in 2013 before he was let go by Denver.
<snip>
A two-time Pro Bowler, McGahee rushed for 731 yards in 10 games for the Broncos last season and has gained 8,097 in his nine-year career. He has become one of the NFL's most dependable runners despite tearing all the ligaments in his left knee during his last game in college.
