Several Angels' players took public transit to the A's game today -- bomb scare

The San Francisco / Oakland Bay Bridge was closed this afternoon after a "suspicious device" was reported on an on-ramp.

Half of the Los Angeles Angels team left early from their San Francisco hotel for their 7 p.m. game in Oakland and were able to make it across the bridge, according to a team spokesman.

Several members of the other half of the team had to take BART across the bay.

A's would have chalked up a 9-0 forfeit win.

Would've served 'em right, too. Oakland has plenty of hotels, most of which are near the airport -- and the Coliseum.

most athletes normally stay at the Claremont Resort up in the Hills whenever they're playing here.
