Seahawks fans trying to buy ‘Go Hawks’ brick at new 49ers stadium

7-17-13 / San Francisco Chronicle

A group of fans on the r/Seahawks subreddit of Reddit are putting together more than $200 to purchase a brick for the “Fanwalk” at the future Levi’s Stadium, which is currently under construction in Santa Clara, Calif. The brick would be placed among thousands of others in the new stadium’s plaza.

SNIP

The most obvious and most popular phrase proposed so far has been simply, “Go Hawks.” But the Levi’s Stadium Foundation, as it’s called, has the right to say no to any text it wants, so something obviously Seahawks-related could get rejected.

To get around this, the r/Seahawks denizens are also looking at writing a secret message — such as a phrase in which the first letters of each line spell out “Go Hawks.” Redditor SirBeefy suggested, for example, “Great Ones Have Achieved Wisdom Knowing Success.”

Some Reddit users suggested going the pleasant route, congratulating the 49ers on their new stadium with a friendly message from their Seattle rivals. Other users have said they won’t contribute unless the brick says something more forceful — “this is (freakin’) football we’re talking about!” wrote redditor El_PEZ.

Wouldn't it be a shame if something happened to the brick. KamaAina Jul 2013 #1
