The reaction is a mix of pride and worry (mostly the former from folks at his alma mater, where I work). Not many college coaches have ever walked into an NBA head coaching job and met success their first time in the pros.
I do know he'll be approaching this eyes wide open and with a good investment plan for his newly-elevated salary...

bright guy and I agree w/your assessment. He'll do what he can with this opportunity but he seemed as surprised as anyone that he was selected.
