Patriots ProShop to offer free exchange on Aaron Hernandez jerseys

The New England Patriots ProShop will offer a free jersey exchange of any #81 Aaron Hernandez jersey purchased at the team’s website or online at PatriotsProShop.com.

Patriots.com reports that the free exchange will happen next weekend and the fans can exchange a jersey for a new Patriots jersey of comparable value.

Hernandez was released by the team on Monday after being arrested and then ultimately charged with first-degree murder and five other gun charges. He is behind bars after being denied bail twice this week.

“We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore,” said New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James. “We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player’s jersey will be well received by parents.”

They made him put his real name, "Smart", on his jersey, though.

4. Yeah. I remember that he did play in the NFL for a short time. Had forgotten who for.

Just looked up his name and he played for them from 2002-2005, and played in a Super Bowl for the Panthers.
