Tsongas lost...and after his comments about "female hormones" interferring with women playing five sets, I hope this shithead never wins another match.
Maria's in trouble...
MuseRider
(34,111 posts)Watching Fed not Maria but I agree about Tsonga. I used to like him OK but not anymore. Still, I wonder if he has even met Serena? (or any number of women who could easily do it and would probably like to given that it gives them more time for strategy)
I thought Tsonga left injured. So many so far, I wonder if there is not some behind the scenes slow player strike since they are complaining about the courts being really slick this year. I can't say as I would blame them, who needs a career ending injury?

(34,111 posts)Been an interesting first few days of Wimbledon hasn't it? Wow.
Federer is not concentrating again. *or something, I am not paying my usual attention, being all too thrilled with the DOMA news and writing

(56,177 posts)Although clearly there are 4 major assholes on that court!
MuseRider
(34,111 posts)If I were Kennedy I would NEVER EVER vote with that asshole Scalia after what he said today. What a creepy jerk he is.
Sitting here in my Federer hat very happy he just won the 1st set tie break.

(56,177 posts)Not watching...at work and checking online...which still shows 6-6!!!
MuseRider
(34,111 posts)Sorry joeybee. I don't think I should post in sports threads ever again
No more from me.

(56,177 posts)NOw I see the other guy is leading in the second, but I think they're on serve...
MuseRider
(34,111 posts)Thanks joeybee.
On serve. So you keep up with the scores during the days? I find it hard to watch them if I know what happened. The way these matches are covered over so many venues it is impossible to not know what happened before you can watch the replay or a recording. Fed is making some good points and this guy is really pretty good but I am not paying close enough attention to say more than that.
One of the women I least care for lost today and I was grateful for that.....except she might have gone out with an injury and that isn't good. Nope, she just lost
Spoiler of those out with injury

(7,429 posts)I work for a NBC station and to be honest this is a big F-U to ESPN for stealing Wimbledon. It was on NBC for 30 years. It was fine there. We had good ratings. Now all of the top stars are either dropping out due to injury or getting creamed in the 1st or 2nd round. It's the TV gods getting back at ESPN for being the "exclusive home for Wimbledon". I'm a little bitter, yes. But ESPN is making it more and more difficult for average people to watch the sports they love. Look at the Bowl games - none of them are on ABC. All of the big games are on ESPN. Next year they are taking the US Open, too. So if you want to watch sports you have to have Cable. Can't watch anything on an antenna now!! It stinks!!
Sorry, my 2 cents for the afternoon

(29,675 posts)and I'm getting terribly annoyed with his mother being shown all the time on tv too.....reminds me of during the football season when Kurt Warner and the Rams were having a fantastic year, all the camera crews kept showing was Kurt's wife in the stands........ugh. edit to remove picture of Kurt's wife.

(56,177 posts)Otherwise, it's the other guy I want to win.
TBF
(32,068 posts)so neither of them get more majors. I want Roger on top with 17 as long as possible.

(56,177 posts)He'll probably win Wimbledon, but I can't see him dominating for much longer...

(29,675 posts)dang it, she lost the first set 6 - 2 to her. D*mn. Come on Serena.....
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)Final set, Lisicki serving at 5-4 - but Serena has broken her twice in this set already, so it ain't over ...
Lisicki's Wimbledon record:
2008: lost 1st round
2009: beat French Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova in 3rd round (eventually lost in quarter final)
2010: did not play due to injury
2011: beat French Open champion, Li Na in 2nd round (eventually lost in semi final)
2012: beat French Open champion, Maria Sharapova in 4th round (eventually lost in quarter final)
2013: beat French Open champion, Serena Williams in 4th round

(56,177 posts)I wonder if Sabine will ever truly break through...she doesn't seem to be able to capitalize on the big wins.

(7,429 posts)This is turning out to be horrible for ESPN. I've never seen so many top-seeds not make it to the 2nd week or lose on the 2nd Monday.
Go Sloan Stephens!! Hope she can make it far now

(29,675 posts)She's got such a great presence on the court.....I'm hoping she'll be around for years to come.
