(78,249 posts)I swear it wasn't me.
Also note: No player names on the backs of the jerseys. Only NL team to do that (Yankees and Red Sox do it in the AL).

(9,709 posts)It's hard to understand how a ML umpire can miss two critical calls in back to back innings, particularly when neither call was even that close. Then, at the beginning of the Rockies post game show, Tracy Ringolsby blamed the bad call on Belt at home on the Buster Posey injury...what?
Anyway, as you correctly point out, Pagan is the 1st SF Giant to accomplish this feat. The last Giants player to do it was Bill Terry on Aug. 24, 1931..

(31,184 posts)I was out yesterday and missed the game. FYI: Giants' third base coach Tim Flannery said he sent Pagan home because he saw the cutoff man was LeMahieu, not Tulowitzki. Had Tulo handled the ball Pagan would have been held at third.
Duane Kuiper went nuts on the play-by-play.

Since Barroid retired it seems that the opponents have had more of these than Frisco.

(31,184 posts)17-10. I think there have been one or two more by the Giants this year, and maybe one or two by opponents. Yesterday's was the first ever by a Rockie.

(20,365 posts)18 for the Giants and 14 for the opponents since 2008. So far this year the Giants only have one while the others have four. Cargo also hit one on April 8th.
Now there is a distinction between ones that the water on the fly and ones that bounce into the cove. I think Wikipedia is listing only the ones on the fly. And your Giants source hasn't been updated this year.

(1,811 posts)Sorry for the all caps, I know that is frowned upon around here, but this one was the last straw for me.
There can he no such thing as a "walk-off inside the park homer"! How fucking stupid is that? The term "walk-off" has finally been abused to the point of total idiocy. Is this so hard to understand? A "walk-off" can ONLY occur when there is no need for the baserunners to actually run, i.e. when the touching of home plate is a mere formality. A home run that leaves the field, or a base on balls or a balk that forces in the winning run, are the only legitimate examples of a "walk-off" victory.
This shit started with the game-ending fly ball that went over the head of a drawn-in outfield, and even that pissed me off, because the only reason it was a "walk-off" was nobody bothered to try to make an out. It wasn't necessarily "automatic". It's become a lazy sportscaster's way to say the game ended without a third out being made.
Now it's just gotten stupid as shit.
