For Bigwillq and TZ: UConn Women Back Home; Victory Flight Has Landed, Victory Lap Coming Up

The Huskies are back home.

The plane carrying the national champion UConn women's basketball team landed at Bradley International Airport at just about 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies were greeted by a crowd of supporters, cheering on the arrival of the team that gave the state its eighth women's title with a 93-60 win over Louisville on Tuesday night.

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman opened with remarks at Bradley, telling the team how proud the state is of the players and coaches. She then introduced "our coach, our favorite, Geno Auriemma."

Auriemma said winning the title was the result of what the team does all season. "It's a yearlong thing for these kids," Auriemma said. He also said the Huskies worked to become a "great, great team."
