among the 4 teams left out are the two newbies, Utah, and Colorado, who now are a combined 8-28 in conference for their first two years. Those schools are going to have to pick it up if they want to compete..this isn't the MWC..

6-6 vs. 6-6. Who cares?

I personally would raise the number of wins needed to become Bowl-eligible to 8 and get rid of alot of these games.

6. I remember lots of big bowl games with the Irish Vs. Alabama

...so I'm looking forward to the rematch and renewal of this ancient rivalry...Jan. 7

I actually like both Alabama and Notre Dame. Got connections and memories with both schools. So their occasional Bowl matchups over the years have tended to catapult me into a Strange SportsFan Soul Zone. When I'm in that Zone (rarely), I am just into the game for the game, not really rooting for anyone, but for everyone to play great and Go For It. Maybe that will happen again this year with the BCS Championship Bowl?

Whatever, since these two teams have a history, I think it will be fantastic game. We shall see...

13. Ironically, last year's Orange Bowl had the lowest ratings ever for a BCS game

The West Virginia rout of Clemson.

NIU has a phenomenal athlete in Jordan Lynch. I think catching an opportunity to see him go up against one of the nation's best defenses.

Also to add to the answer below, the also had a higher ranking than Big 10 champ Wisconsin.

I mean, c'mon, teams with 6-6 records playing in a post-season bowl game???????

In the end, it's about sponsorship and $$$$$$.

I don't see them on there, how did that happen? I figured, unless it was a team from the Sun Belt, pretty much everyone with a 6-6 record or higher got invited.

20. They turned down the Independence Bowl

because a) it's right down the road in Shreveport (er, Hawai'i always plays in the Hawai'i Bowl when it's eligible, and San Diego State is in this year's Poinsettiia Bowl) and b) they didn't want to play the other FBS team in north La., UL-Monroe. (buck buck BRAWWWKKK!)

Their AD is a . Karl Malone is calling for him to be fired.
