Nationals' Johnson wins NL Manager of the Year Award

Washington Nationals' Davey Johnson was named the 2012 National League Manager of the Year Tuesday, defeating San Francisco's Bruce Bochy and Cincinnati's Dusty Baker.

Johnson won in a landslide with 23 first-place votes and 131 points. Dusty Baker earned five first-place votes and came in second place with 77 points. Bochy garnered four first-place votes and came in third place with 61 points.

Congratulations to Johnson and all. I mean, unlike Harper's ROY, at least he won this award easily. Though, if the voting had been held after the postseason, no doubt there would have been a different outcome..

Should be interesting...as the Nats and others attempt to prevent the Giants from further cementing their baseball dynasty..

beating out Buck Showalter, who did a not-shabby job with the O's in his own right.

Too bad I never got to post "This ALCS is brought to you by the letters A and O, and by the number 7."

Funny thing about Bob Melvin, in his first year in Seattle the Mariners went 93-69, and he was widely praised. The following year..63-99, and he lost his job. Similar in Arizona, Melvin won NL Manager of the Year in 2007 at 90-72, fell back to 82-80 in 2008 and was fired in May of 2009..

Now, I'm not claiming that's going to happen in Oakland. After all, there are a lot of reasons why Melvin's teams may have slumped, but last year was magical, and A's fans should expect a sharp fall back down to earth in 2013..

That he's afraid he's going to get fired now! ( got fired from Baltimore after being named AL MOY). I love him. Gonna miss him in 2014
