(22,143 posts)Outside of Houston and maybe Atlanta at the top and Kansas City and Cleveland at the bottom, the whole league is pretty much the same. Mediocre.
Parity is what they wanted. Parity is what they got.

(7,429 posts)Big time.
Houston lost at home to the Packers giving up 6 touchdowns.
Atlanta almost lost to the Raiders at home. Ryan threw 3 INTs.
I would say both of these teams were pretty lucky up until now!

(29,322 posts)I think it is the other way around. There are a lot of teams that are good but they struggle in certain areas.
Houston appears to be a complete a team. They are a little soft on run D but their pass D is great. Schaub is efficient at running the offense and they have the #2 rusher based on total yards who was #1 entering the week.
Atlanta actually has a weak pass D but they have a very good offense and an excellent home field advantage.
San Francisco, like the other NFC West teams has a great pass defense and one of the leagues' best run defenses. The pass the ball efficiently and lead the league in rushing yardage despite being #9 in rushing attempts.
Chicago is #2 in pass defense, behind San Francisco. Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Green Bay also have very good pass defenses as well.
Then you have division leaders NY Giants, New England, and Baltimore doing a horrible job of defending the pass.

(29,322 posts)I'm not saying the outlier is that they lost, but that they lost in this fashion. Smith having 3 picks in one game as opposed to having 1 pick in 5 games. 49ers picking up 0 sacks when they have had 9 sacks in 5 games. They allowed a 100-yard rusher when they haven't since 2008. I don't expect them to panic and continue to play their game. They have a tough road ahead as they still have to play their 6 division games but it looks like New England is the only time they'll have to travel past the central time zone.
I'm not saying they weren't overrated but I expect them to be underrated as sports pundits typically overreact to recent short-term results.

(31,186 posts)playing well enough to make it to the playoffs, peaking in mid-December. Granted, not everyone can. But that's the goal.
I'll take a humbling drubbing like this in week six. The season is still young.
