A-MAZING!

The team with the lowest payroll in Major League Baseball won the American League Western Division.

Congratulations, Oakland Athletics! First team in MLB history to win a division coming from 5 games behind with 9 or less games remaining in the season.

Bob Melvin is the Coach of the Year. Billy Beane is the Executive of the Year.

That would really be setting the cosmos in order.

While George Steinbrenner may have made his money in shipping, he's still the asshole who perfected the art of the leveraged buy out of the free agent market. Thus is it his legacy to have his team called the Wall Street Yankees.

but considering they went 4-6 in that Tigers/Yankees/Rangers road trip and still caught the Rangers, you have to like their chances. It's great they miss that ridiculously fucked-up one-game wildcard game ... and have a chance to rest.

Have fun, Texas ...

They may be nothing we can do about an earthquake if the Giants and A's meet in the World Series.

When the two Bay Area team met in the '89 Series it was a great cosmic event. Even the California Earth itself jumped for joy in celebration.
