(11,795 posts)We'll likely show up in Morgantown anyway, but we'd really like to see the game without spending $1000

(27,602 posts)That will be our biggest home game of the regular season, IMO.
Some tickets are still available for less than $200 apiece. Online ticket sales here.
The Sooners will be selling a number of tickets to that game. Have you considered that angle?
a la izquierda
(11,795 posts)OU's ticket office, in all their brilliance, only offered tickets for sale for season-ticket holders. Screw us fans who don't live in Norman anymore.
I can't afford $400 for two tickets. Neither can my friends. We have good jobs, but I'm not Mitt Romney.
Lasher
(27,602 posts)Like I said, you can cop tickets there for $200 apiece. If you snooze you lose, IMO. Give me a shout if you want local information.

(11,795 posts)I'm not spending $200 a piece if they're going to get destroyed. And by the looks of yesterday, that's a real possibility. I'll just go to Morgantown and watch in a bar- a good friend of mine is a professor at WVU.
Lasher
(27,602 posts)The Sooners are currently favored to win that game, but the same was true of the last two games we've played. Taking into account both teams' results in yesterday's games, I agree with your assessment. But it's early.
If you don't want to buy tickets to watch Oklahoma get a drubbing in Morgantown, then by all means save your money. A Morgantown sports bar is a great place to take in the game, and so are the parking areas around the stadium if you like tailgating while listening on the radio. Since you have a friend on the WVU faculty you don't need my humble assistance with logistics.
a la izquierda
(11,795 posts)because we can't find a hotel. Do you have any recommendations for small B&Bs or independent hotels? My professor friend just moved there, so he's pretty useless when it comes to where to stay.
And yeah, we're going to take a wait and see attitude. Worse comes to worse, we'll spend the game in a bar or tailgating.
Thanks for the suggestions. Please don't set me on fire when I come to town

(27,602 posts)23 miles/30 minutes south of the stadium. Check out the hotels near the Bob Evans restaurant at 9634 Mall Road. We stayed at the Days Inn. There were some Maryland fans staying there that night. We didn't murder any of the women and children.
I met some WVU and Maryland friends at a great tailgating spot. I need to do some head scratching before I can direct you to it.

(6,278 posts)We couldn't find a place in Morgantown because of the home game Saturday, but did get a room in a Microtel in Hazelton, WV for about $90 or so. That's about 30 miles to the east of Morgantown along I-68.

(11,795 posts)unfortunately, ticket brokers seem to have bought up all the tickets. I'm leery of StubHub, as I got screwed by them once.
