CORTLAND, N.Y. -- New York Jets fans caught the opening act of Tebow -mania at training camp Saturday, and it wasn't love at first sight.
Tim Tebow was heckled by a few loud fans during the Jets' first public practice, which drew an announced crowd of 2,588 on a rainy morning.

The most compelling moments came early in practice, when Tebow and Sanchez, side by side in a passing drills, threw long balls to uncovered receivers. A few of Tebow's passes wobbled and hung up in the air, prompting groans from the crowd.
"Look, it was practice," said offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, downplaying Tebow's shaky day and the crowd reaction. "We're out here and, I mean that's why we're doing what we're doing. You're going to throw a bad one, you're going to throw three good ones, you're going to catch two of them and drop one of them, miss a block, whatever it is.

(238 posts)But seriously, I don't expect Tebow to be fantastic during practice. Here's clearly a game-time performer. He seems to have a knack for making big plays on the big stage, which is something that doesn't come through in practice.
A game time performer with a 48.6 passing accuracy.
tebow is like a rookie pitcher in baseball. He'll get throught the first roatation pretty good until the hitters figure him out.
That's what is exactly what is happening with Tebow. Can't throw--- and if you're a QB, you gotta throw,

(238 posts)Yes, his stats are bad. What I mean is that he's able to step up at big moments -- not always, but certainly at a level beyond his normal playing level. In other words, he performs under pressure. Is he a great quarterback? No. Is he a good quarterback? Not really. Will he become one? I think the jury's still out.

(238 posts)I'm really not a Tebow fan. I just think it's silly for some Jets fans to boo whom at his day of practice. I'm a Jets fan, and I don't what we're gonna do with Tebow. Adding him to the team really didn't make sense. But he does have talent. He's a good athlete and can handle pressure. Maybe he'll be a good quarterback in a few years. But why we would want two average to meteocer quarterbacks on out team is beyond me. First we give Sanchez an undeserved big contract and then sign Tebow. It makes no sense. We should be booing Jets management.

(29,322 posts)I see Tebow being used in much the same way (except for returning kicks). The Jets had success w/ Smith that I could see them having w/ Tebow.
Yep, I remember him. And maybe Tebow will be used successfully in the same way. That'd be good.
