Giants dominate All Star game..

Pablo Sandoval and Melky Cabrera turned the All-Star game into a Giant blowout.

Flashing their bright orange spikes and booming bats, the San Francisco sluggers keyed a five-run blitz against Justin Verlander in the first inning that sent the National League to an 8-0 romp over the American League on Tuesday night.

Cabrera homered and won the MVP award, and Giants teammate Matt Cain started a strong pitching performance for the NL in its most-lopsided All-Star victory. Cain combined with Stephen Strasburg, R.A. Dickey, Aroldis Chapman and the rest of a lights-out staff on a six-hitter.

''San Francisco Giants show,'' Matt Kemp of the rival Dodgers said during the game.

I thought Pablo deserved the MVP, but otherwise it was a great night. Particularly for the Giants fans who came under fire for voting for their team's stars..as they were completely and totally vindicated.

Verlander was goofing around and not throwing hard on purpose.

Yu didn't even get in the game!

Hard-throwing AL starter Justin Verlander admitted his approach was backward. Usually, he saves his 100-mph fastballs for late innings, but he threw them right away this time.

"That's why I don't try to throw 100 in the first inning," Verlander said. "We're here for the fans. I know fans don't want me to throw 90 and hit the corners. They want to see the 100-mph fastball, so I gave them that."

It backfired. Posey's walk came on four pitches, filling the bases for Sandoval, who hit a curve high enough down the right-field line ...

He tried to put on a show for the fans. He should be commended.
