Jun 24, 2012 - The Chicago White Sox have acquired third baseman Kevin Youkilis from the Boston Red Sox, according to a source that's spoken with WEEI.com's Rob Bradford. With rumors swirling, the Red Sox intensified their effort to trade the veteran infielder this week and it appears they've found a match in the expected frontrunner.
Youkilis, 33, has been a core part of Boston's lineup for years, but he was supplanted at third base earlier this year by 23-year-old Will Middlebrooks. His numbers have been lackluster, with a .225/.311/.359 line and just four homers, but Chicago's gotten absolutely abysmal production at third base.

In mid-April, manager Bobby Valentine told reporters Youkilis appeared detached.
"I don't think he's as physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past for some reason," Valentine said.
Valentine apologized the following day, but the Red Sox had their first public conflict and clubhouse discord. Veteran Dustin Pedroia came to Youkilis' defense.
"I don't know what Bobby's trying to do, but that's not the way we do things here," he said. "Maybe that stuff works in Japan."
Valentine just sealed his fate to the Boston fans.

And why don't they wear the equally ugly blue unis?
