Chris Lincecum attacks Bay Area sports media..

"Here's a two-time Cy Young winner, a four-time All-Star, a World Series champion, and send him to the minors? You do that, and what you're basically telling the player is, 'We don't need you or respect you.’ And this is the kid who helped bring a championship to the city of San Francisco for the first time in over 50 years?

“It's like people forget what he's done. It's like, ‘What the (expletive) do I have to do. What more do you want? I gave you two Cy Youngs. I was a major contributor to the World Series. And you crucify me now?’”

“You keep saying (expletive) like this, and he'll want to go away. This is the face of the franchise … and now that he's struggling, as all players do at some point, this is the (bleep) respect he gets? You're crucifying him.

“It's like the media is hoping he fails so they'll have something to write about. If they're trying to get him to leave that city, they're (bleeping) on their way.”

Give me a break Chris. I understand he's your son, but Tim is making 18 mil this year, 22 mil next..and going into last night he led MLB in giving up ERs....you want the media to ignore it and just live in the past?

From appearances it seems the organization is sticking with him rather than succumbing to media demands which is smart.

Otherwise if he felt disrespected by the Giants he could take his talents elsewhere.

but the organization has gone out of it's way to stick by his son. The media for the most part have been supportive as well. Few pitchers would still be in the rotation with Tim's numbers and with the team, going back to last year, having lost 17 of his previous 20 starts.

I can only assume Chris Lincecum is listening to too much sports talk radio and reading more of the comments section in the Giants blogs than perhaps he should..

Your kid has some troubles and, bingo, the douchebags pounce. It's professional sports -- expect it. If it were New York or Philly it would be ten times worse. Senior should know better.

BTW, it was reported in local media today that Chris is no longer helping Tim iron out his delivery problems. And that's as it should be. At this stage of his career it's better Tim be coached by Dave Righetti and Bruce Bochy.

After a rocky start last night, Tim pitched a great game.

I understand expecting it and ignoring it but not out-of-line. He has every right to his opinion as much as the douchebags IMO.

Nor wrong. But grow a thicker skin. It's sports. By calling out those douchebags he exasperates their criticism.

In the 1st inning, I figured along with most everyone else, here we go again. Amazing he got out of it with only 3 runs scoring. He looked much like his old self after that..perhaps there is hope yet.

I'm interested to see if Tim can build on this, not just talk, but really return to form with quality starts. The Giants need him. He goes against the Dodgers at home next..big series, and the kind of game the old Tim would shine in..
