Who would want to see the Preakness on TIVO or whatever without knowing the result?

But I guess the Belmont can be interesting if a pony is going for the Triple Crown.

Bodemeister isn't going to make it at a mile and a half in the Belmont. Could be remembered as another Sham or Alydar.

I've been watching the horses for 50 years, and I'll Have Another is no fluke. I picked him in this one when everyone was picking Bodemeister. Massive chest and the look of a winner. Which he is. Nobody is Secretariat, but he could be another Affirmed or Spectacular Bid.

He got beat in the Belmont.

You might be thinking of Seattle Slew who won the TC in '77.

Thanks for the catch.

The worst thing I learned today in surfing the net after this great race was that the wonderful Alydar was murdered in a terrible way for insurance money. I never knew that before.

but that used to be fairly common in the horse racing industry. One of the shady things I learned that went on surrounding the circumstances of Helen Brach's murder from an episode of one of those crime shows on TruTV. Helen Brach was a widow of someone who worked for the Brach candy company.

Many fully-fledged grownups, including some of my very best friends, have never seen a Triple Crown. Even I was a teenager then.

We haven't even gotten this far since Code Brown's choke job four years ago. Can we please, please get it done, I'll Have Another? I'll even buy you a bag of carrots!
