http://www.zappos.com/asics-gel-frantic-6-black-silver-bright-roseI like their looks, but I want to make sure I get the best equipment for the long haul.
Uh oh. Posters are talking about these being good for women with wide feet.
I'm the exact opposite. I've always have very narrow feet and I wear an uncommon size. 8A

(24,841 posts)I tried a pair of Asics that I didn't like. Go to a running store and try on some shoes. It's really helpful to try on several pair so you can get the ones with the best fit.

(24,841 posts)one is an a the other is a b. In running shoes you want to go a half size larger and have plenty of room in the toe box. It's important to have enough eyelets in your shoe to be able to tighten the shoe to your comfort level around your instep and ankle. I tried on 8 pair of shoes before I found the ones that felt right. Running in the right shoes and socks makes all the difference in the world if you are running morer than one or two miles, though good shoes makes those runs easier as well.

(11,795 posts)Best shoe ever. I don't run much anymore (I race competitively in HS and college), but I crossfit which has a significant amount of footwork of various kinds (skipping rope, jumping, running of course). A New Balance store will carry an 8A, or can likely order it for you
Looks don't matter on running shoes, by the way. It's your technique that matters. You could run barefoot and not have problems if you run correctly.

Many New Balance shoes are made in the US of A. Not all, but many.

(29,322 posts)but I'm not a woman. You have to get the right type of shoe for you foot to be comfortable for running and I'm not sure what those are anymore even with that description.
