Maple Kind, Yeah
Probably already been posted here but the idea that this dog is smart enough
to know what maple flavored bacon is but still fall for the lamest tease
in the world causes me to laugh without ceasing.
I watch it first thing in the morning every single day.
I have played it for my family hundreds of times and now when I
visit my kids I start long meandering conversations and after about
20 minutes bring it to a close with "Maple kind, yea". For example
I might talk to them about the history of Ice Cream and eventually
work my way to "maple kind, yeah".
I was just in S Carolina visiting my daughter (and new husband) and
we went to a swamp park that has boats that is run by the city park
department. I engage the ticket seller about all of the things in the park
and after about three minutes I ask if they have a good selection of
trees and after she says yes I ask if they have the "maple kind, yeah".
This invariably leads to loud guffaws of laughter, several minutes of
eye rolling and one of the family members going to talk to the outsider
who is staring at this group of idiots laughing uncontrollably (except for
me, I keep a perfectly straight face) explaining that the crazy white guy
is a recently released patient of a mental institute and all he could eat
there was pancakes with syrup, "maple kind, yeah".
I know that 30 years from now when I am long gone my adult children will
walk into some supermarket and see some maple flavored syrup and
be forced, against their will, to grin and remember their crazy dad.
