Where can I sell used books?

I have lots of "teacher" books and have had no luck on eBay. These are books on classroom management, lesson plans, etc.

Most are like brand new or very gently used. They were expensive when new!

Any suggestions? I looked at Amazon, but it seems they would take a large percentage for listing there.

Unfortunately what a used book will sell for often has little to do with what the book cost new.

I have been to the Amazon, B & N, and Powell's sites. Yes, I know about their value ... I'm really interested in getting them to teachers or students who could make good use of them. If I were looking for those kinds of books, I would probably go to Amazon I guess, not to eBay.

5. I've had success on Craig's List

Especially at the start of the new term. I've sold quite expensive textbooks this way. This only works if they are still being used in your local colleges...

7. I sympathize.

I am in the process of culling excess books, and I'm not sure where I can sell them. I don't have a Half Price Books within 400 miles. Twice in the past I have given people planning on opening a used book store, the stock they need to get started. The first person got about thirty boxes of books, the second only fifteen. I would probably have about ten boxes of books to give away at this point.

There's a second hand bookstore in my city (Santa Fe) that says they will give cash for books. I brought them two bags full, and they didn't want any of the books. Sigh.

I may just box up my culled books, knowing I'll be going to the Kansas City area, which does have a Half Price Books, within the year, and sell my books to them.

That's been my problem. I have about 200 books i'd like to sell. but no one seems to want books on obscure points of the English Reformation, and the English Civil War and Interregnum...

Some books have a very limited audience, especially some time after they were published.

I've decided that I'm going to box up all my books, and the next time I go to either Phoenix or Kansas City, the two nearest Half Price Books to me, and sell them there. They actually take almost everything, in my experience, even if you don't get very much for them. At least it's cash in hand and the possibility that someone else will someday own them.
