African Americans, especially the AA women who made up 18% of the total votes in Alabama and voted Democratic at a 98% clip.

Black voters in a state where their votes are aggressively suppressed prevented a disaster for our nation.

I also want to point out that a twice fired judge who stole from a charity and probably molested a 14 year old child lost by 1%

That's because white men voted for him at a 3 to 1 pace, and white women at a 2 to 1 pace. If black voters had not turned out - if they had made up the same percentage of voters as they are in the general population Roy Fucking Moore would be Senator Moore.

If I have to read another wave of "Identity Politics are killing the Democratic Party" nonsense, I won't know how to react...

I'd be torn between the desire to slap that jiggly blob of stupid upside the head and the desire to point and laugh maniacally while twirling my junk like a propeller.

So many of our African American posters are no longer posting here. Still, I want to ASK, how can we help?

That whole “identity politics” bullshit came from a place of deep racism—one whites have a difficult time fighting, because first, we have to acknowledge it is racist. When we are unwilling to do that, we simply adjust the narrative to make it sound “reasonable” i.e. “economics affects everybody” true enough, but, for instance how certain economic policies affect an African American male already impeded by decades of institutional racism is not the same as how it affects a White male with similar prospects entering the job markets. You have two entirely different situations.

Some of us tried to point this out, but those who were immersed in, call it “theory” rather than reality wouldn’t hear. It didn’t fit the narrative and the narrative was a racist one.

Retaking the House and the Senate in 2018 is not enough. We have to take the state houses and the county boards, and the school boards.

We must be involved.
