2. Well, he's misread the basic character of SC

SC is an incredibly religious and therefore conservative state. It's also largely rural, also leading to old time religion and new time conservatism. That pretty much applies to the majority of voters across every demographic.

His misreading of that insulted everybody. There is just no way a Democratic Socialist Jew is going to win in SC.

(I haven't been back there in 10 years. Since it hadn't changed in the previous 45 years, I doubt very much it's changed since then)

I see how Sanders' fanatics are belittling the Southern primaries, but they fail to realize/accept

two truisms:

First, Southern and Western states are more populous and diverse, a true reflection of the Democratic Party electorate.

and

Second, NO Democratic Party candidate--I don't care if it's Jesus H. Christ himself--can win ANY nomination without the support of a sizable portion of minority voters or women.

Sanders will do well in Oklahoma, Alaska and West Virginia--overwhelmingly Republican states, many of would say also some bigots here and there. But the Sanders fanatics aren't belittle those states.

As a child of the American South, I resent their bigotry. I resent their arrogance.
