(Some) so-called white progressives sure don't like it when

Last edited Thu Feb 11, 2016, 03:37 AM - Edit history (1)

African Americans and African American leaders take the initiative and vet Bernie Sanders, asking our own questions and judging by our own (quite varied) standards.

Some of them feel that they did the vetting job already and that it is good enough.

I'm suing Charles Blow because I've been writing about Bernsplanin' for about a month now...not here but I use the term all the time at DK, lol...I have the receipts but it may take awhile for me to dig up.

EDIT: I've been using the term for about a month and a half but I just googled it for fun and there is an occurrence of "bernsplaining" that goes back to Sept. 2015...so I guess that Mr. Blow if off the hook as far as my royalties are concerned.

they are on a very short leash...

and remember, some people in the black community at that time agreed with Hilary Clinton..

And besides, this is not a thread about Hillary Clinton.

I let her have it.

By the same token, I am not about to let lily-white progressives lecture to me about what's in my best interests, either.

You I can have a discussion with, we can agree or disagree and then agree to disagree; that's all good

I don't support Hillary Clinton and I never have. In fact, I wrote a piece that sharply criticized Hillary Clinton ~24 hours ago...and I didn't bite my tongue in it, either.

But I'll be damned if some bunch of lily-white progressives tell me that they know what's in my best interests and in the best interests of my community and dictate it to me from on high.

I find that offensive.

FTR, the "super-predator" stuff is one of the reasons that I don't support Clinton.

I'm glad that the CBC and the AA community are powerful enough to be heard and to influence elections.

Whatever the outcome, I sincerely hope that AA achieve the justice and the level playing field that they seek and they deserve. I for one am completely sickened by the news, by the injustices perpetrated every day, on members of, and particularly children in, the AA community.

While I do support Hillary Clinton, it's my belief she, her campaign -- and people like me--need to continually reexamine our approach as well as our response to race and racial issues. It's my belief we need to acknowledge where we have been supporting toxic whiteness as well as participating in racism. To me, this is part of what being a white progressive is all about. Watching what has been happening with comments regarding AA voters, had dismayed me more than I can express. At the very best, it's embarrassing. The very best. At the worst--let me just say, unfortunately I don't think we've reached the point of "worst" yet. And that's terrifying.
