Ex-NAACP Head Ben Jealous: Sanders is Most Consistent Candidate Tackling Racism, Militarism & Greed

Likening him to Jesse Jackson in the 1980s, former NAACP President Benjamin Jealous praises Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for consistently addressing the issues that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. referred to as the "giant triplets of evil"—racism, militarism and greed. We speak to Jealous in North Carolina. He was just in South Carolina campaigning for Sanders ahead of that state’s primary.

Former NAACP President Ben Jealous endorses Bernie Sanders

Ben Jealous, former head of the NAACP, officially endorsed Bernie Sanders on Friday, drawing parallels between the ideals of the Vermont senator and those of Martin Luther King Jr.

“I recall the words of the late great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who said a genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus,” Jealous said in a press call organized by the Sanders’ campaign. “And that brings me to why I'm here today. Bernie Sanders has been a principled, courageous, insistent fighter against the evils that Dr. King referred to as the giant triplets of racism, militarism and greed.”

Jealous said Sanders meets King’s definition of a great leader and cited that as the reason he has the best chance to beat the Republican nominee in a general election. “Bernie Sanders is running a positive, principled, people-powered campaign and steadily molded consensus across our nation at such a high level that the polls now say he's hands down the candidate for beating any of the potential Republican nominees at the polls next fall,” he said.

We really, really need to do better around here with our falling in line.

taken a little time during that search to read how we feel. One of the most obvious repeated sentiments is that we don't need unwarranted, constant feedback from especially Bernie supporters "enlightening" us on news about African-American politics, as if we aren't capable of keeping abreast of politics that concerns us.

So no, it was probably not posted because WE KNOW already and we're evaluating the pros and cons of each one. Just because we're not talking particularly of an endorsement that gets you excited, doesn't mean that you should assume that we don't know what's happening.

I can't believe you're that unaware.

Funny - I just bumped up two posts on Tamir Rice and your silence prior to your electioneering speaks volumes.

Funny - you Bernie's cant be imposed upon yet you are allowed to drop your pants and shit on us.

Funny how it's okay for you to come antagonize the House Negros as St Catherina calls us.

The difference between them and you and so many of the other Bernie supporters you say that we are "hostile" towards is that they have always participated in this forum and have always been friends to the AA posters here and have cared about the AA community.

They don't drop in with bullshit that we've all seen two weeks ago and act like its news. And they don't pop in to this forum for the first time to sing the unending and numerous glories of Bernie Sanders. They are HERE when we talk about Tamir Rice, discrimination in housing, media etc. They are HERE. Which is exactly why they are welcome and don't get the reception that you got.

Please just stay away from this forum. Thanks.

Now - if instead of invading - you had read, familiarized yourself with the group - you would find that I think they are both shitty candidates and I won't be voting in the June Primary at all.

So in your brain it's either -

We are supporting Hillary Clinton

Or

Writing in Malcolm X - who I'm sorry um -

I don't know if you know this. He's dead electric monk. I know it's sad - but it happened before I was even born.

I point blank admitted to 1Strong I was clowning someone the other day.

And I'm sure you can find my post yesterday where I do my - read 2 or 3 sentences, ID nonsense, then respond in kind.

That was yesterday.

And yep - the host op - I wonder if they just like it in the 'house' better? We have people to fan you in here! where's Calvin Candie when you need him?
