If black male teenagers live behind a gated community they can be profiled, not just by the police, but by a wanna be cop like George Zimmerman. So, even if they are rich, go to private schools their lives can be in danger where they live. Too, if they live in such a community, their lives cannot be enriched by an urban experience.

But if a teenage lives in an urban area like New York, he may be constantly hassled by the police in accordance with its search and seizure laws. In other cities, if he doesn't join a gang, his welfare, if not his life can be in jeopardy--he might be mistaken as a rival gang member. Of course, if he joins a gang for self-protection, his life may be short lived and probably completely destroyed.

If you were Black parents with male teenagers where would you live? It looks like you'd have no place to go.

The OP which was posted in the AA forum, asked a rather straight forward question -- "If you were Black parents with male teenagers where would you live?" and your response was "Juvie prison, where they're the majority" which to be honest was a pretty fucked up answer, even as sarcasm.

Seriously, I'm beginning to think the safest place for black youth is in small town America. My next door neighbors moved out here with their kids to WV to escape the violence on the DC streets. This worked out very well for them until one of the sons decided to move to a large urban area. Within a year he was senselessly killed by gun violence.
Just something to think about, I guess. The larger cities seem to have what they call "neighborhoods" which are nothing more than enclaves divided by class and race. When you live in a small working class town there's neither the room nor the money for such divisions. We all shop at the same stores, attend the same schools, live on the same streets -- since we don't have what you would call "neighborhoods".

8. I'd suggest Canada or New Zealand, if it comes to that. I've had AA friends who served in the

military and said they liked Germany and France.

But that was over twenty years ago. I don't think it's the same anymore.

I've heard good things about Quebec and New Zealand.
