Well, there is one grace (not necessarily a saving grace) to this crazed supporters situation.

You can guess which supporters I'm referring to.

It has opened my ignorant eyes to the depths of unconscious racism still lurking in the progressive soul.

And I'm including myself in that number. I didn't realize that I wasn't teaching enough to my own kids about the realities of our world. We have AA among friends and extended family and at least one of my kids really did think we were in that "post racial" world -- already. So he asked me why "all of a sudden" I've been talking about it so much "lately."

Huh? What? Just lately?

P.S. He is really -- literally -- color-blind, so he's never quite gotten the whole thing. As a first grader, he thought that to call someone "black" meant they had black hair. Because there are plenty of black-haired people around (including him).

But in his eyes, everyone's skin is just a shade of green.

I am angry at myself for thinking liberals werent racists, or alleged liberals

Younger folks are much less that way. Thank goodness. Less defensive too, imho.

Like the ones at the Westlake Mall rally who erupted in racial insults at the BLMers.

And the ones who defended them.

an ongoing educational process for all of us. One of my favorite places is the Southern Poverty Law Center. They have a program called Teaching Tolerance. https://www.splcenter.org/teaching-tolerance

Every year for Christmas I donate to them. For people who don't need a material gift, I give them a card saying I donated X dollars to the SPLC for them. It makes them happy and causes them to read and learn more about this great Teaching Tolerance program.

I really enjoy getting their publications.

I wish people in government would use their expertise more, especially now. We have so many issues with lone wolf assassins and the ignorant ways people are reacting to the refugee crisis. They have done a great deal of research in these areas.
