"Circle Unbroken" Picked Up by PBS

Documentary About Gullah History and Culture

"The recently completed new documentary, “Circle Unbroken: A Gullah Journey from Africa to America,” which chronicles South Carolina Gullah history and culture, has been picked up by PBS for distribution nationwide on the network.

The film, which is more accurately 'part musical, part documentary' was produced by Ron Small who co-wrote the project with Anita Singleton-Prather, a South Carolina folk storyteller who regularly conducts educational performances about Gullah history with her performance troupe, the Gullah Kinfolk, who also star in the project.

The documentary made its début last month on SCETV (South Carolina Educational TV).

The PBS broadcast license will run for 3 years, insuring that PBS stations across the country will have an opportunity to program it as many times as they want until 2018."
