Filling out my ballot for Seattle...

So far only one candidate has mentioned #blacklivesmatter. Everybody else devoted little time to racial or other social issues, if they mentioned it at all.

Seattle is probably the best example I've found of a colorblind modern liberal city (though when I say liberal, I mean neo-liberal; far too many rich people up here for even basic liberalism, let alone leftism). People shy away from racial discussions faster than anything else.

We're still funding a massive children's prison. We still have the war on drugs going on--former police chief Gil Kerlikowske was a key part of Obama's expansion of the war, called his "drug czar" by Alexandria. SPD is well known for being rather forceful. We have a explicitly racial divide in income, housing, and neighborhoods. And so it goes.

Nobody will even mention it.

Pretty sad. Thank goddess BLM hasn't let up. Getting in Sanders' face here was one of the best things they've done.

What really pisses me off is the rich liberals around here who want all the usual liberal policies, but who won't actually support anything that will change the status quo. Sure, they'll support Bernie, but BLM? I can't get them to even talk about it.

"Socially liberal and fiscally conservative" was thrown around a lot. How does that even work? Makes no damn sense at all but try explaining it to them.

Hang in there, I understand 100%.
