FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 9, 2015
At this time, #BlackLivesMatter does not endorse any presidential candidate. Moreover, we are not affiliated with a political party. Our work is not funded or driven by any political party nor is it influenced by local or national candidates.
As stated in our mission, #BlackLivesMatter is an ideological and political intervention; we are not controlled by the same political machine we are attempting to hold accountable. In the year leading up to the elections, we are committed to holding all candidates for Office accountable to the needs and dreams of Black people. We embrace a diversity of tactics. We are a decentralized network aiming to build the leadership and power of black people. We do not endorse any political party and we are not supported by any political party. Our political aims weve stated clearly.
Historically, all political parties have participated in the systematic disenfranchisement of Black people. Anti-black racism, especially that sanctioned by the state, has resulted in the loss of healthy and thriving Black life and well-being. Given that, we will continue to hold politicians and political parties accountable for their policies and platforms. We will also continue to demand the intentional dismantling of structural racism.
For more information about #BlackLivesMatter nationally, please visit the official website at www.blacklivesmatter.com, follow @BlkLivesMatter on Twitter, or visit the Facebook page here.

(83,925 posts)sadly Hillary supporters are being put in a box, please stop it.
How many Bernie supporters are leaving the board? Hill and AA are being stalked here. Some are leaving the board because they just can't stand the shit anymore. They are being alerted and stalked off this board.
Bravenak is one, she got 4 hides in 30 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are others. Trust me there are others. It is incredibly ugly when our voice is not heard.
Me, I am white. Me, I support them with all my heart, as a woman I can relate. Me, I am so damn sick of this shit.
Sadly, they are the ones in that box, not you.

(8,175 posts)Because if it was, then you are using the BLM movement for your own adversarial purposes. In other words, you just want to keep banging on the hate drum.
You should have been posting this for BLM.

"
Wow, I guess the fact that I am posting this in AA went clearly over your head. Who else seems to care about black lives, not you.
Get the hell out of this group!
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)but that is beside the point. You post a valid thread and then taunt Bernie supporters to K&R it, and insinuate they won't. What the fucking hell is that all about? That is not about supporting BLM...it's about slamming Bernie supporters, many of whom do actually stand for BLM. Like ME!
Sorry...you do not speak for all BLM supporters.
I'm getting so fucking sick of this hatefest...this is disgusting. We need to be caring for each other and helping each other ...not this shit!

I know, no one is ever aware of the group they post in multiple times after they are told they are in a group.
How the hell was this a taunt? Wasn't in the Op, it was a comment below. The OP was clear. You want to crab on a comment, when it is in fact the truth. You all never comment. Sorry, you never ever do. You are never part of the numerous discussions on Blacks Lives and their Deaths. You are not front and forward for those. You are not.
Point, you come to a group to trash me and my OP. It was a beautiful OP. They said they support no candidate. None. They are waiting to hear what they have to say.
I have some good friends here, Bernie supporters and they are vocal about BLM. I also know some that are leaving Bernie, the vitriol has been to great.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)I didn't come to this group to trash you. I came because of the "beautiful" OP (I don't know where threads originate...I see them on the DU home page)...and the first thing I did was K&R it.
Then I saw your Bernie taunt and it made me wonder (since it was at the very beginning of the thread) why you even posted it.
Can you not see how (cannot you even try to feel how) that felt to a Bernie supporter who also supports BLM, (which btw is almost all of us)? You offended another poster who is also a Bernie supporter, and even when she said please don't box us all together you said "sadly Hillary supporters are being put in a box, please stop it." You accused her of putting you in a box, when in fact that is exactly what you were doing to her, and to me.
Can you not see how your disrespect for other DUer's would throw off the whole point of this OP? How you are not engaging people for BLM, but antagonizing them?
Do you even care about reaching out with that olive branch to heal this divide, or are you only concerned with people you "think" are BLM supporters? We are not your enemy Sheshe, no matter how much you might think we are.
So here is what I will do. I'm reaching out an olive branch here and saying, can't we please join sides and work together for the black lives movement? Please? They need all of us.

(83,925 posts)For the past few weeks AAs have been under attack here. You saw that correct?
This group that kindly allows me to post here has been viciously attacked. Their members alert stalked and hidden. Bravenak got 4 in 30 minutes. You want to know why? She was a Sanders supporter trying to explain to other supporters why they were going about BLM wrong. She supported him tried to explain from a black woman's perspective why they were wrong. Sanders supporters came into this GROUP and tried to destroy her.
Guess what, she has 7 hides now. A sweet, extremely intelligent woman that loves her family, her race, her history. When she tried to defend it she was destroyed. Or at least some believe that, she is stronger now than ever.
So please do not tell me how I disrespect you. AAs are put in that box every damn day. They are marginalized, they are shot dead, unarmed and innocent and their murderers walk every damn time. This is not about you and me it IS about them.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)and not the fucking war between supporters.
I love and admire Bravenak. I've told her what I think of her. I did not alert against her, nor would I ever. I'm sorry she was banned. So don't put me in a fucking box, in your effort to defend AA's. You do not serve them well when you turn off their supporters.
I have not seen a lot of Bernie supporters attacking BLM. What I saw was some people attacking the women who took the stage in Washington. They did not represent the whole BLM group and I think most people understood that But some of you guys have gone overboard on hating every Bernie supporter for what a few people did, just like you accuse us of going overboard on what a couple of black women did.
I said I was glad it happened, even if it wasn't the nicest way to go about it, because it got Bernie to change his platform. I'm all for that.
I just want this fucking war to stop. We are not winning anything when we keep this battle going. How about that olive branch?

I'm going to step in at this point. Sheshe is a regular to this group. She posts with positive intent, in the spirit of the SOP here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/118722358 Please give a read, if you haven't yet.
Honestly, I don't see this phrase here as having positive intent in the spirit of the group.
So don't put me in a fucking box, in your effort to defend AA's. You do not serve them well when you turn off their supporters.
If you have been a regular reader of this group, you'd know that this is a totally absurd formulation of the problem and the opposite of what has been happining on DU and other places. If you are not a regular reader of the group, and are here to defend Bernie's supporters, I will ask you as a first and last warning to please show yourself out of this protected space.
Thank you.

(30,765 posts)They will be more effective challenging all politicians of all stripes.
I hope they get big enough and loud enough to challenge elected officials at the state and local levels as well. I have usually worked with local Democratic groups. Much change begins locally.

(3,284 posts)I think they are bad and ought to be eliminated, but that's just me.
Does BLM have a stand on this issue yet?
This is a key issue, IMO.
But again, JMHO.
Since BLM is wisely not going to be based on any political party, will it still be issues-based?
I mean, if not, what else would it be?
This where I am not clear yet.
But I want to help.

(24,612 posts)Interesting thing about this song. It is probably near the very top of my all time favorites and it is my daughter's top pick. My granddaughter is learning to play a keyboard, and I recently heard her playing it. Three generations: how many songs/singers can do that?

(3,284 posts)--They can, via social media, observe and report on various politicians and key elites, to see what they are actually doing
policywise, and if they can be positively influenced.
--They can sign petitions and send mass-numbers of emails to key politicians or media people at opportune times.
--They can arrange in-person mass-demonstrations at congressional or other gov't offices (or media), as needed.
--They can work on voter-drives or phone-campaigns in support of certain laws and-or candidates.
--They can donate $$ to campaigns that are considered important
--They can write letters to news media/newspapers and post on websites/social media in support of, or against, chosen
candidates or issues.
--They can go out and talk to people in the community about these issues/candidates.
--They can ...? (more new ideas wanted here)
