When justice died that day
I cried for oh so long
I looked for liberty and freedom
And sang a sad sad song
Justice had been ill
For all of my life
Oppression and bigotry
Her struggle and her strife
She stood upon a hilltop
Saying she, was there for all
Just as soon as I reached her
Lady Justice took a fall
Her wrist were shackled
There was blood on her sleeve
The last thing she said was,
Get off me, I cant breathe!"
There would be no trial
No jury to be sat
For the ones who killed Justice
Were policemen on attack
When Justice died that day
I cried for oh so long
I buried her with Liberty and Freedom
And sang our sad, sad, song

Seriously I've been so knocked off my center by recent events, and music is
one of the ways i get myself back on track.

(34,648 posts)I'm barely holding it together.... Poetry helps me cope. We all have our coping skills. You ever need me to write you a few lines, let me know. I like sharing.

(34,648 posts)I wish I could sing, even just a little. My daughter keeps putting her hands over her ears everytime I try. So I just added a verse to finish it out instead of trying to sing.

(17,997 posts)Beautiful, heartfelt and heartbreaking words, Bravenak.
I see this and I see the pain in others posts and I wish I could do something to end all this horror. Then I see the vile, senseless, nasty words of others and sometimes just plain stupidity, that reinforces the cause of the pain. Contributes to it. And I feel like there's nothing that will stop it. Nothing will make those, with eyes closed, open their eyes. Nothing will give the ignorant knowledge. Nothing will soften the hearts of hateful.
I hope I am wrong. I am so sorry for all the hurt.
Your words are beautiful and poignant. Thank you for sharing them

(34,648 posts)Eventually humanity will grow the fuck up. No choice. You have been awesome throughout this whole thing. I do see that people are noticing. That's the first step. Awareness. You are doing your share by raising awareness. We will make our way up that mountain together.

(17,997 posts)I hope you are right. I stand with you. But as you see, some can't even see or admit there is a problem.

(18,124 posts)beautiful. And per that song suggestion, I so do hope I hear it sung one day.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)I hope you never have to hear me sing it though. You might cry, I'm so bad.
Maybe somebody can sing it for us and record it. Might need a few more verses tho.
Just finished another one today. It was really bad yesterday but, I think I fixed it.
America The Free. I think that's a good name for it. I work best when I'm pissed off.

(34,648 posts)It is sad to have to be writing about this. Turbulent times provide plenty of material for creativity, sadly.
