SS From the time you apply to the time they start sending your money

how long does it take for them to acknowledge and approve SS application

applied the 13th and nothing yet and it is 27th


June 28 update

Called and they said it was processing normally BUT
we get paid one month in arrears so June gets paid in July
AND since my birthday is late in the month - it is 4th Wed of the month

So on July 24th I get June 1st payment

Sorry I can't be more specific, but they work pretty quickly, at least they did a few years ago for me, and more recently for my husband.

It's been a while but I don't remember it taking more than a week or two.

day. Take all your paperwork with you.

7. I thought they sent all checks to be received on the 3rd of the month

unless holiday or weekend, they might send a day or two early...

8. Not all are on the third of the month, for a number of years now.

I applied at age 62, and for a number of years now, my direct deposit has always been on about the 17th of the month.
They were encouraging direct deposit even a number of years ago, so mine has always been received that way.

Now all routine government payments ( I hate the word entitlements, but will use it here for clarification of the type of payments I'm referring to) are either by direct deposit or payments deposited onto a type of card similar to a debit card.

My daughter, who receives SSI, received a check by mail until May of this year. Now she has been issued a debit-type card which is "refilled" on the third of the month, as you say, unless holiday or weekend, when it may be issued earlier.
