GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, Cuba -- Journalists visiting Guantanamo Bay for the military commissions are now allowed to roam around many parts of the island on their own, as long as they can figure out a way to get there.

Guantanamo has a McDonald's, two Subways, a KFC, an Irish pub, a jerk house and multiple bars with decent selections of cheap beer. There's a Starbucks to satisfy your caffeine needs and even a food truck that sits outside the courtroom if you need to grab a quick bite during a military commissions hearing.

With so many options, where should you eat? HuffPost has you covered. Check out the slideshow at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/guantanamo-food_n_2616512.html#slide=2040576

they even had a car dealer and Harley dealer on post - in Iraq. You couldn't take delivery of you car there, but they'd make sure it was waiting in your driveway when you got home from deployment.

However, there was only one fast food restaurant there. It was a Burger King and it was probably the worst Burger King I'd ever eaten at. Even considering that I was eating MREs all the time, it still tasted like crap.

I don't know about Afghanistan, but our living conditions in Iraq were top notch when I was there in 2004. I lived in a (small) camper like room with electricity and air conditioning. Many guys bought satellite dishes so that they could get TV, but the stations sucked and we only got crappy stations from the mid east and eastern europe.
