It is the DOD!!! He's on Armed Forces Radio. This has NOTHING to do with the VA. The VA doesn't have a radio transmitters.

... I'm at the Aleda E. Lutz VAMC, Saginaw, MI (the only VAMC named for a woman) at least once a week for therapy and/or appointments of various manner every week and they don't have piped in radio. The waiting rooms all have TV's with mostly news programs on. Lately, I've noticed a shift from Fox to MSNBC on them. BTW, Aleda Lutz was a WWII heroine and the first woman to be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as an Army Flight Nurse. She was killed in action in France on a medivac flight. Her home town, Freeland, is nearby Saginaw.

It's like steering an aircraft carrier. It isn't like grassroots, bottom-up responsiveness. It will have to come from the top. We need Panetta's contact info. No one else will stick their neck out to make the command decision.

that it's harrassment that they are forced to listen (if the guys take control of radio etc.) would be the only way I can think. Since listening would be a choice I really don't see how they can get him off. Or maybe a security risk since they never know if he's going to say something insulting to the locals in the areas they are fighting?

And he is the head of the Armed Forces Committee, so we'll see if they listen to his wisdom.
There's an article in the Latest Breaking News about it.
