"Hurricane Sequestration" is headed for Fayetteville, and local businesses should prepare for its impact, Fayetteville Regional Chamber leaders said Wednesday.
"We all stand to take a pretty big haircut," Doug Peters, president and CEO of the chamber, told about 40 business leaders at Methodist University.
Peters was among several speakers at a forum on how defense cuts in the Budget Control Act could hurt small businesses. The mandatory federal cuts, which would take effect in January, also could have other long-term implications, such as on education and early childhood programs, he said.

Tighter federal dollars could lead to more audits of contractors, which could lead to investigations, said Keith Tilghman of Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.
