Isn't it time we start getting serious?

Even though ISIS/daesh or any other radical group might in some case, under some circumstances could inflict harm, they are no existential threat. Why are we buying into the Cheney 1% doctrine?
We've spent almost a century pushing our weight around and after WWII we pretty much thought we ruled the world (well there is that financial shit Bretton-Woods/the dollar is everything).
Venezuela is no threat to our national security, and never has been. Remember that statement by our president?
Why after the fall of the Soviet Union didn't we start normalization of relationship with Cuba?
Why does NATO still exist?
Can we just stop pissing in other peoples sandbox and play nice with the rest of the world?
