More than a month after his car was supposed to be delivered by the military contractor that ships service members' vehicles around the world, Petty Officer 2nd Class Richard Hendricksen thought he got good news Thursday when the company called to say his car finally had arrived.
So he caught a ride Friday morning from his home near Wallops Island to the office of International Auto Logistics in Chesapeake, only to find that his car was inoperable.
The whole front end was smashed, he said, and the oil filter and oil cooler assembly had been ripped from the underside.
"They said when the truck showed up with everyone's cars, the guy had to push it off the truck because there was no oil in it."
