Fayetteville police chief accidentally shoots self

Interim Fayetteville Police Chief Katherine Bryant returned to work Friday after she accidentally shot herself in the hand during the Christmas holiday, authorities said.

A spokesman for the city said Bryant was injured when her personal firearm accidentally discharged at home. No one else was hurt.

Officials did not provide more details on the incident.

y'know, regardless of the tool, folks whose jobs require regular usage of potentially harmful tools from construction to police officers, every once in a while familiarity breeds carelessness. And before anyone says, BUT people don't die from hammers or whatever, uhm yeah sometimes they do, and sometimes it isn't the careless person who gets injured or dies. Think perhaps of truck drivers, and the number of fatal accidents they cause but are rarely the one's hurt.

Okay, climb on. Pretend that I'm an NRA lovin' nut, I'm not, and I love regulations and registering and licensing. But when I had kids to protect I also loved the right to own and carry a firearm. So at least now I can be judged fully and fairly, not by a few people's snide remarks that are undoubtedly on their way.

Between 80 and 85 percent of all vehicle accidents involving a light vehicle and a tractor-trailer are caused by the light vehicle.

There are three basic car-caused crashes.

Type 1: blind side crash. Assume the driver absolutely cannot see anything on the right side. He really can't see anything between the passenger door and the tractor's rear mud flap. Between the tractor's tail and the back of the trailer, he can see. But every time I go down the Interstate I see someone in the driver's blind spot. Helpful hint: if you like to drive to the right of big trucks keep your will current.

Type 2: running into a truck. My freeper brother has had at least three fuel tanks knocked off his trucks. People rear-end trailers. Freeper brother also lost a nice Peterbilt because some dipshit decided to run a red light in a pickup, failed to see the huge truck turning left, and hit his back tires hard enough to break the rear axle brackets.

Type 3: car driver cuts off truck then puts on brakes. Cars stop from 60 in less than 250 feet. Trucks need another hundred.

Antitruck groups love to believe all car-truck crashes are caused by the truck. Some are but most are not.

3. Obviously this could have been prevented if only there were more guns.

More guns are the solution to all problems.
