Hialeah police said a man approached a fruit vendor, took out a gun and asked for money. That's when a third person at the scene took out his own gun and shot the suspect.

Police sifting through the evidence on scene, including this weapon that landed near a pineapple say the thief ended up critically hurt.

The family of the person who allegedly shot the thief says he's a retired 68-year-old man who brings tamales to sell at the stand as a way to stay busy.

The alleged shooter's daughter told NBC 6, he was attacked and he had to defend himself or he would've been killed. She said her father has a permit to carry a gun.

Once again a CCWer uses his lawfully carried gun against a violent thug in the act of a violent crime. No innocent bystanders gunned down. No spray fire endangering hordes of babies and really old folks. Just a few bullets carefully planted in the body of the armed robber and the robbery is over.

Fla. Man Shoots, Kills Teen Over Loud Music

A Georgia teenager was shot and killed over his loud music when he refused to turn it down on Friday, police said.

Michael Dunn, 45, approached Jordan Davis, 17, at a gas-station convenience store in Jacksonville, Fla., where they had both stopped. Dunn asked Davis to turn down the music in his car. When Davis refused, Dunn got into an argument with Davis and his friends.

To resolve the matter, Dunn brandished a gun and fired at least eight times. Now he's claiming his actions were in self-defense.

You are comparing a case that all facts are not in yet and you have already displayed yourself as the judge, jury and executioner of that case to a armed robbery suspect stopped by an armed citizen.

It is very rare for a CCWer to wrongly shoot someone. It does happen, but rarely.

Texas has well over 500,000 people with CHL (Concealed Hangun License) but averages about one or two a year of those, who are convicted of murder. Some years - none. We also average about 50 civilian justifiable homicides per year. There is no reason to think that the Texas experience is different from other states with similar laws.

None CCW murders are in the hundreds per year. But those are criminals who are already violating bunches of laws.
