Norwalk man faces gun charges

NORWALK -- A 32-year-old city man is facing a felony charge after police allegedly found him to be in possession of a banned semi-automatic handgun.

Jason Dube, of 52 Maher Drive, was arrested on a warrant Monday and charged with possession of an assault weapon. He posted $5,000 bond and will appear in court Nov. 30.

Police say Dube was arrested on Oct. 28 for a domestic violence incident and was ordered to turn over any firearms in his possession. His pistol permit was also revoked.

A total of 17 firearms, including a TEC-9, were lawfully seized from Dube, police said. Connecticut passed legislation banning assault weapons, such as the MAC-10, the TEC-9 and certain AK-47 models, in 1993. Possession of an assault weapon is a Class D felony that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of a year in prison.

A TEC-9 has a magazine that's separate from the pistol grip.this makes it much harder to conceal. It makes it virtually impossible to put in a holster. It makes it harder to use in a crime. Yet they are banned in CT but more concealable guns aren't.

Duh.
